RITpedia talk:Notability - RITpedia

In relation to this, I propose we set up a template similar to Template:Notability of Wikipedia. There should probably be a step for articles prior to setting them as an article for deletion where users can make their case. --Richard Edward Latham 09:08, 20 May 2010 (EDT)

I think it's important to recognize that notability is a guideline here. I don't think we should be deleting articles for lack of notability, but we should remind users that content of minimal importance should be of low priority for inclusion. Kari Marie Hazzard 10:45, 20 May 2010 (EDT)

Club guidelines

What should the notability guidelines be for clubs? Should every registered RIT club deserve a RITpedia article? --Daniel Rene Leveille 14:11, 20 May 2010 (EDT)

I think a clubs are almost always notable as long as they are already organized. Clubs that haven't been formed yet probably aren't notable unless we're talking about one of the cases where there is an cyclical formation/dissolution of the same organization. For example, the Cycling Club has gone in and out of existence many times before (mainly because of our horrible winter weather); even if it were to dissolve again, though, that doesn't make it any less notable.
