The Image Permanence Institute (abbreviation: IPI) is a research institution located within Frank E. Gannett Hall and a department of RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences.

Overview

IPI is a nonprofit research group founded in 1985 by Rochester Institute of Technology and the Society for Imaging Science and Technology. They are primarily funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

IPI's services include information, consulting, tools and technology. Their clients are libraries, archives, and museums worldwide.
