The RITZ Sports Zone, also known as RITz, is a food area located in the A-level of the Student Alumni Union. It has the atmosphere of a sports bar, with many TVs and a large projector showing ESPN all day. The Ritz Sports Zone is sometimes used to show hockey games or other shows.

The dining facility / bar underneath the SAU Cafeteria was known for many years as the "RITskeller", a play on "ratskeller," a German term for a bar below street level. Many colleges had ratskellers in the sixties and seventies. RIT's version was also known as "The RITz", an abbreviation of the full name.
In the late nineties, the RITz was joined with the adjacent SAU Game Room to create the ESPN Sports Zone, the name borrowing elements from both the then-new ESPN–RIT joint television production venture (RIT SportsZone) and the then-new chain of ESPN-themed eateries, the ESPN Zone. As part of the joint venture, an ESPN SportsCenter-like production studio was installed in the west end of the game room. At the time, it was thought that the ESPN Sports Zone at RIT would be merely the first in a chain of campus-based ESPN-themed restaurants.
That never came to fruition. When the official ESPN partnership ended, the restaurant was renamed the RITZ Sports Zone.
