FAST, which stands for finance and administration systems and technologies, serves the finance and administration departments of RIT with technical support.
FAST started when individuals in finance and administration were unhappy with the excessive call times they had to endure with ITS. Because of this wait a new section of technical support was developed.
The finance domain is run by FAST whose hardware has been integrated into the main ITS datacenter. It maintains its own credentials and shares but does not go as far as providing email. The network itself is more secure stripping users of rights that could allow virus's in. Additionally the network relies on IPsec for point to point encryption of traffic. Since the theft of a laptop from NTID containing sensitive information FAST also spearheaded the ITS wide effort to encrypt all laptop drives.
