The Eugene Fram Chair in Applied Critical Thinking will provide campus-wide leadership in cross-disciplinary approaches to critical thinking (CT) with the goal of assuring that every RIT student obtains CT skills prior to graduation. The Chair will accomplish this goal by working with faculty across all programs to more fully integrate CT skills into existing and new curricula. By advancing student programming, faculty training, research and scholarship related to CT, RIT aims to create a national Center of Excellence to bring attention to this vital component of higher education.

Dr. Clarence Burton (Chip) Sheffield, Jr, Associate Professor in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, will become RIT’s first recipient of the Eugene Fram Chair in Critical Thinking beginning September 1, 2012 and lasting three years.
