Bricks form the exterior walls of most of the buildings on the RIT campus, leading to its nickname, “Brick City”. RIT's bricks use a special mix of colors unique to the university.

As of July 27, 2010, there were 15,194,656 bricks on campus.

The prevalence of bricks on campus inspired the names of, among other things, Brick City Homecoming, Brick City Cafe, the Brick City Singers, and mascot Ricky the Brick.
