The building houses the Vignellis' comprehensive archive of graphic design, furniture, and objects. These archives are used as teaching tools for students of RIT's School of Design and visiting designers.[1]. The archives are accessible to all; to learn from and use as teaching tools.

The Vignelli Center for Design Studies is open to the public and welcomes visitors.

History

In 2008[2], Massimo and Lella Vignelli agreed to donate the entire archive of their design work to the Rochester Institute of Technology. This was the reason for the planning and construction of the Vignelli Center.
