Global Union is the largest multicultural student organization at RIT. Formed in 1997 by Venezuelan student Nicolás Rubio, Global Union has grown significantly over the past years to become one of the most recognizable organizations on campus.
The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Global Union is a Major Student Organization (MSO) that represents the International students and numerous cultural organizations at RIT. By hosting several events and programs throughout the year, the RIT Global Union hopes to better connect with its constituency in addition to informing and serving the RIT and greater Rochester community.
As Global Union's signature event, Unification is the biggest cultural show at RIT. Unification is essentially a contest between the cultural organizations affiliated with Global Union. Each organization puts on a performance that both educates and entertains the audience about the organization's culture. Past performances have included dances, skits, fashion shows, and singing. At the end of the show, the judges will determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Unification is currently one of the main events for Freeze Fest weekend and exhibits the best of what RIT’s multicultural organizations have to offer while ultimately highlighting the diversity inherent in the university’s culture.
